USA: Support striking workers at Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas

Workers at the Brooklyn and Manhattan locations of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (in New York City) are currently on strike to protest the layoffs of 70 union members on February 3. The company moved unilaterally to implement these layoffs in the middle of the bargaining process for our first contract. These workers were let go without any advance notice, compensation or benefits payouts. These layoffs are illegal because the company declared an impasse on the layoffs even though both parties continue to negotiate for a first contract. The union has filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge with the National Labor Relations board and has been out on strike since February 14. Their goal is to get the company to reinstate these laid off workers, make them whole, and bargain with the union in good faith for their first contract. There are also active fundraising campaigns being run by some of our coworkers, hardship funds for laid off and striking workers, for those who wish to support our efforts.
