In partnership with UNI Global Union (representing more than 20 million workers in the services sector in 150 countries), the United Steel Workers Canada (the largest private-sector union in North America), Çağrı-İş and Sosyal-İş, unions representing office, commerce, and call center workers in Turkey. |
The Canadian technology company Telus provides services to TikTok and other major corporations in its operations in Turkey. However, the workers in these "profitable" jobs are being crushed under low wages and psychologically exhausting working conditions. Performance targets are constantly rising, there is no job security, and arbitrary dismissals are taking place.
Telus workers have unionized to demand a collective bargaining agreement. In response, the company started firing union representatives and changed its legal status to hinder union activities.
Workers, who are now on the picket line in front of the Telus office in Izmir, are demanding better working conditions, recognition of their union rights, and the reinstatement of their colleagues who were dismissed.
Telus TikTok workers are fighting for better conditions for their families and the families of all contracted workers. We can't just scroll past their struggle, show solidarity!
