Türkiye: Freedom for Ismet Aslan, detained trade unionist

In partnership with KESK, the Confederation of Public Employees Trade Unions in Türkiye. It is one of the largest trade union centres in Türkiye and is affiliated with ITUC and ETUC.

Ismet Aslan, an officer of the Confederation of Public Employees Trade Unions (KESK), was arrested by security forces on 7 October 2024. He has been held in the Silivri Prison ever since. The public prosecutor imposed a decision of confidentality on the case file, and as a result, there is no detailed information about the accusation. Aslan has been working as the collective bargaining agreement and legal affairs officer of KESK for about 20 years. He suffers from a type of skin cancer that requires continuous medical treatment. We call on you to take the initiative for İsmet Aslan’s freedom. By sending a letter to the Ministry of Justice, you can ask the Ministry of Justice to release the trade unionist, İsmet Aslan.
