USA: Time for Wendt to negotiate with the union
In partnership with the Building and Wood Workers' International (BWI), a global union uniting around 334 trade unions representing around 12 million members in 130 countries. |
On June 2017, workers at Wendt Corporation, a scrap metal recycling plant based in Buffalo, New York successfully fought for respect and dignity by forming a union. The workers voted to join the Ironworkers Union (Local 576). However, Wendt continues to mistreat workers by dragging their feet in failing to negotiate in good faith with the union for the first collective bargaining agreement. In addition, the company has launched an anti-union campaign by harassing union members and threatening to lay-off workers.
